My name is Travis Teague. This site is a place to publish original essays, poems, and writings. It is an extension of the larger work I am attempting to do on YouTube that ponders life's biggest questions through the reading and discussion of great works. So, what is an everyman?

In a story, the everyman is someone that embodies the ordinary human spirit. Not likely to be the greatest hero or villain, but rather someone who would be seen as 'normal' or 'everyday' to most. However, the everyman ought not be overlooked. Picture Samwise who at the end of the day just wants a good pint and a pipe. Or perhaps Ron who can't stop thinking about a bacon sandwich as he hunts for horcruxes. Or Watson, who can often be found sitting by as Sherlock contemplates a mystery. But each everyman is nuanced, they are layered, and their pondering and action often plays a vital role in how a story turns out. What is your role?
